เปิดตัวเป็นรุ่นแรกๆ สำหรับฮาร์ดดิสก์ไดรฟ์ความเร็วสูงจาก Seagate ในชื่อรุ่น Barracuda XT ด้วยอินเทอร์เฟซใหม่อย่าง SATA 6Gb/s ซึ่งเร็วเป็นสองเท่าจากในรุ่นเดิมที่จะมีความเร็วเพียง 3Gb/s มีขนาดความจุสูงถึง 2TB หรือ 2000GB ซึ่งเป็นขนาดความจุที่สูงที่สุดในปัจจุบันที่มีการพัฒนา มีขนาดแคชที่ 64MB ส่วนความเร็วรอบยังคงเดิมที่ 7200 rpm

จากผลการทดสอบจะเห็นได้ว่าในส่วนของ Burst Rate จะสูงถึงระดับ 2688.9 MB/s ในส่วนของการอ่านข้อมูลและ 2705.6 MB/s ในส่วนของการเขียนข้อมูล ซึ่งสูงกว่าในรุ่นเดิมที่จะได้แค่เพียง 90 MB/s กว่าๆ เท่านั้นในทั้งสองส่วนนี้ เรียกได้ว่าเพิ่มสูงขึ้นกว่าเดิมอย่างเห็นได้ชัดมากๆ ส่วนในด้านความร้อนก็ยังเย็นกว่าเดิมอีกต่างหากเพราะอยู่แค่เพียง 32 องศาเท่านั้นเอง
